Men's weekend

Silence

A weekend with room in it. We speak again on Sunday morning.

About the weekend

The masculine needs time to get things into its boxes. Most programmes fill the weekend from end to end; this one makes room. From the fire on Friday evening to the circle on Sunday morning it is quiet: meals in silence, work in silence, the sea side by side. If you need to say something, you say it — and the silence is still there afterwards.

On Sunday we break the silence with one question: what came when it went quiet. Then we talk about time — what you have survived, what remains, and what you want to leave behind. It is the winter weekend; bring warm clothes.

The hands

Slowly and alone: sanding a table, raking the yard, splitting kindling, walking the coast and gathering what the sea has laid up.

Saturday evening

Saturday evening is the fire, the sauna and the sea — in silence.

The question to take home

What did I hear when I stopped talking?

Before you come

What have you survived that proves you can?

How the weekend lies

Friday

You arrive between 2 and 4 pm and get a room. At 5 we sit in a circle, and at 9 we open the theme by the fire. Sauna for those who want it.

Saturday

Up at 7. A talk, then work until 2 pm. Two hours where you write, in silence. A walk to the sea, two by two. Dinner, and at 8 the evening's room.

Sunday

A silent walk, a short circle, and then we read out what you wrote on Saturday — anonymously, if you wish. A last talk, and at 4 the ferry leaves.
